Unlocking Africa’s Geothermal Potential: Building Skills to Accelerate Geothermal Development

Africa has significant geothermal potential that can contribute to energy security, economic development, and the transition towards more sustainable energy systems. However, unlocking this potential requires specialized expertise, appropriate technologies, and a strong understanding of the different stages of geothermal project development.

In this context, **ARGeo-C11** will organize four specialized Short Courses on 19–20 October 2026 in Moroni, Comoros, designed for professionals, researchers, engineers, geoscientists, decision-makers, and other stakeholders in the energy and geothermal sectors.

The training programme will cover financing geothermal projects while leveraging carbon markets and renewable energy funds; geothermal drilling engineering, project planning and risk management; developing geothermal direct-use projects in Africa; and well targeting using geothermal conceptual models and 3-D software.

Through these courses, ARGeo-C11 aims to strengthen technical capacity, facilitate knowledge exchange, and create opportunities for collaboration among African and international geothermal professionals.

Investing in skills today means unlocking Africa’s geothermal potential tomorrow.
